Christmas Sugar Cookies

1 cup butter

1-1/2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. soda

                                                                                 1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs, beat well. Add vanilla then dry ingredients. Chill 3 hours. Roll out on floured surface. Cut out shapes with your favorite cookie cutters. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool on racks; frost and decorate as desired.

Frosting:

3 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 Tbsp. Karo syrup

1/4-1/2 cup milk

Beat till smooth.
